[The first thing that arrives is a link to a video on Staryutube. There appears Jaskier, sitting to a cozy fireplace in one of the many Mahogany inns. He has his ukulele in his hands and Dandelion the Eldegoss sitting by his side, using Sing - of all his singing Pokémon, Jaskier chose him because he's a Grass-type and it would fit the theme. What theme, you ask? Well, surely Millenial Tree recognizes the story Jaskier is now singing about.

The second thing that arrives is a text in a very extra font.]

I hope I've made your tale justice.

[Millennial Tree Cookie hopes Jaskier won't mind too much that he responds through a different format, but... well, he has already mentioned to him that he's still getting the hang of typing, and responding to a message like this (how did he get the letters to look different????) in the manner his attempts at typing tend to look seems somehow inappropriate.]

It is truly beautiful - I am honored that my past could inspire such a song. You and your Pokemon are quite skilled!

[Jaskier doesn't mind at all! In fact, he replies using audio as well. He sounds quite cheerful thanks to the praise, not to mention a little bit smug.]

Thank you, thank you! It was both an honor to hear it and an exceptional source of inspiration for my ballads. Your tale had been vibrating on the tip of my fingers begging to be written since the interview, I kid you not! I would've finished it much faster had I not been so busy with the organization of the auction. Speaking of~ [Can you hear the damn grin?] I hope you enjoyed yourself! Three suitors fighting for a chance to date you is nothing to scoff at!

It seems your work was well-divided, then; both projects came out quite well.

[Besides certain... hiccups during the auction, but those didn't seem to Millennial Tree Cookie like organizational issues so much as the inevitable risks of an event involving numerous individuals, each a potential element of chaos. You know. Like people are.

And, yes-- speaking of. He laughs softly.] It was certainly a surprise - I'm pleased to have been able to assist in fundraising as such, but I will admit, I didn't expect such a contest.

My gratitude, Millenial Tree. I'm quite proud of both of them.

[Maybe he should send MT to the Staryutube comment section so he can impart his "that's how people are" wisdom, but something tells Jaskier it could be enough to make someone -even a tree cookie- lose their faith in humanity.

Jaskier chuckles.] You truly think so? You're pretty unique, and so is your view of the world - I would've been very disappointed in people's tastes if there hadn't been at least a bit of a contest. Has the winner -Stanford, was it?- asked you out yet?

[Don't worry about it, Jaskier, if nothing's shaken his fondness for humans and the like after living as long and watching as much as he has, not even Staryutube comments can do it. Probably.]

Well, I had wondered if that may be a deterrent; it's not uncommon for other beings to be somewhat uncertain of how to behave in my presence. [Not even a humblebrag, that's just facts.]

He has approached me to work out the date, yes! It seems that he is considering a trip to the ocean.

[MT's comment is said as a mere fact indeed, but it gives Jaskier a pause. Things in this realm are pretty much utopic, but otherworlders are... well. From other worlds. And the way MT said that? Reminds Jaskier of his own, and not in the best way. He hopes he's reading too much into it.]

Uncertain as in awkward, you mean? Not judgemental? Do you mean in this realm or in your homeworld as well?

Oh, the ocean! [The tone of his voice says he definitely approves.] Dance with the waves, move with the sea, let the rhythm of the water set your soul free! A marvelous choice! I don't doubt it'll be incredibly romantic. Had you met Stanford before? Or was that "approach" also a first impression?

Oh, not judgmental, to my knowledge. Or, if that has been an issue, I've never recognized it - in my world or this one. [And if he doesn't know or care that he's being judged, it probably doesn't matter!]

[He supposes he's not in a position to say anything about how romantic the ocean is or is not, so, instead:] We have spoken! On the network, the, ah, post for giving opinions on each others' appearances?

[He never recognized it... MT PLEASE... Welp, they do say ignorance is bliss, he guesses.]

Well then! If it's only awkwardness then that's just a matter of them getting to know you better.

[And suddenly Jaskier laughs, bright and pleased. His game has been successful, oh what glorious news! But it was posted anon, so he can't express it like that.]

Ah yes, I remember that post. Such an eventful Valentine's eve for everyone it was. [And by "everyone" here he means "he and Geralt" mostly.] So he expressed interest in the past and when the auction came up, he saw the chance and took it! Oh, the story writes itself! And what are your thoughts on him? Does an ancient tree find a human elder attractive in any way?

I certainly hope so! Things seem to be progressing well here, so far. [Sure, people sometimes aren't sure how to respond to the whole tree thing. Or the cookie thing. But that's fine!

As for Jaskier's question, though... the first part of the answer comes easily enough, at least:] I have certainly enjoyed speaking to him so far! That said, I don't know if I can answer the question of attraction so clearly... I don't know that I would know how to recognize it.

[It's not something he's really worried about, but it does mean he can't exactly give a clear answer with regards to his feelings toward Ford.]

...oh. Right. That's--

[Give him a second, he's trying to wrap his brain about the whole thing. He may be a master of words, but even while describing things like love and romance, he's done it for other humans that have experienced society norms. The metaphors would use familiar terms and sensations. How do you explain this to a tree?

No. Wait. It's not just a plant issue, is it?]

Do cookies do romance? Do I want to know how cookies are born? Is your perspective on the subject coming from a plant life perspective or a pastry perspective? Did you already have to go through this conundrum when you went from tree to cookie?

Some do - and most come from the Witch's oven, at least these days. [He's not exactly up-to-date on the status of Cookie reproduction, but that's the general impression he gets.]

My perspective is... likely more affected by my being a tree. It hasn't come up before now; I had no reason to think of such things in my time as a Cookie.

...the witch's oven. [Be right back, imagining Yennefer baking.] So there aren't baby cookies?

[Of course, reproduction and romance don't always need to go hand in hand, but it's usually a good spot to start digging into a culture's mating habits which eventually take you to dating.]

I see, that does make sense. I suppose for you to recognize it would be a matter of comparing your thoughts about him against how you feel about other friends - mayhap in the future, after you've gone on a proper date and see what it entails. Ah, if it happens at all for you, of course! I do not know how much this human body will affect your tree perspective. How the mind and the flesh interconnect -and I believe they do, no matter what some scholars say!- continues to be a complex mystery not even us humans fully understand.

There are! Some are created as children.

[Don't... don't worry about that too much.]

I see... I will have to pay attention, then. [He's curious, certainly, about how his relationship with Ford will or will not grow to be different from those with his other friends here. He can't be sure, just yet - but he's happy to wait and see.]
